June was born on a farm in Weld County, Colorado and spent her early years in Greeley. She attended Colorado State Teachers College (now the University of Northern Colorado) before taking time off from college during World War II to work in airplane assembly factories in Sacramento, California and Denver, Colorado. She returned to school at the University of Colorado in Boulder and graduated with a degree in piano performance from the Department of Music in 1947. June was an accomplished musician. In addition to her life-long passion for the piano, she also excelled on organ and harp. She was an active member in the international women's music fraternity Sigma Alpha Iota. After college she moved to New York City and worked as a staff accompanist at the Juilliard School in the voice studio of renowned American baritone Mack Harrell. During her marriage she lived and raised her family in Los Angeles, California where she frequently attended theatre performances and concerts, activities which she continued throughout her life and which gave her much pleasure. She also enjoyed travel - rafting in the Grand Canyon twice and visiting Europe on several occasions. June returned to Colorado and lived there from 1979-2001, and then relocated to Nashville, Tennessee. From 2001-2011 she served as the organist at Bellshire United Methodist Church in Madison, Tennessee, retiring at the age of 87. She spent her last few years at the Brookdale in Franklin, Tennessee where she was beloved by staff and residents. June was preceded in death by her parents Thomas Fay and Pearle Rupe Fay, her sister Kay Toliver, and her former husband Michael J. Kane. She is survived by her sister Marie Fay, Irvine, California, her daughters Amy Kane Jarman (Mark), Nashville, and Jennifer Kane Rodehaver (Mitchell), Boulder, Colorado, and her four grandchildren, Claire Jarman, Kansas City, Missouri, Zoë Jarman Doyle (Duke), Los Angeles, California, Max Rebuschatis (Nicole), San Jose, California, and Esmé Rodehaver, Asheville, North Carolina. No memorial service is planned. Donations may be made in her memory to Alive Hospice of Nashville, Alternative Cremation of Franklin, or Sigma Alpha Iota International Music Fraternity
