In the early morning hours of September 3rd, while surrounded by loved ones, the shackles that bound her to this physical life were broken and her spirit returned to the place from which we all come. There are no tears in Heaven. Beauty, warmth, and love have replaced the pain and suffering of this life.
Wanda was born on January 11th, 1950 in Clarksville, TN to Pearl Hembre Phillips and the late Malcolm Jackson Phillips. She graduated from Woodlawn High School in 1968 and then from Shelby State Community College with a degree in Nursing.
She retired as a Registered Nurse while at Saint Thomas hospital in Nashville, TN in 2011.
Wanda was a very loving, nurturing, beautiful, strong woman. She was a beloved mother, wife, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, mother-in-law, sister-in-law and friend. She loved her family more than anything in the world and will continue to smile down and look after them from Heaven. She leaves behind a husband, four children, eight grandchildren, her mother, sisters and brothers.
A memorial service will be held at Blooming Grove Baptist Church, Woodlawn, TN on Saturday, October 8th at 11am. Wanda will be laid to rest in the church cemetery next to other members of the Phillips family. The family asks that a small donation to the Blooming Grove Baptist Church be made instead of flowers.
