Vicki Lea Ponder

Vicki Lea Lanier Ponder, 73, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2024 in Nashville, Tennessee after a short illness.

Born July 29, 1950 in Batesville, Arkansas to James Lynn Lanier and Victoria Brown Lanier, Vicki grew up in Batesville and graduated from Batesville High School in 1968. Vicki attended the University of Arkansas and Arkansas College before marrying Drew Ponder in 1972 and moving to Washington, D.C., where Vicki worked at the Library of Congress.

Vicki and Drew moved back to Arkansas and lived in Little Rock before the birth of their daughter in 1979, shortly after which they moved to Nashville, Tennessee, which would become Vicki’s adopted hometown. Vicki trained to become a travel agent, a career she loved and retired from in 2015. Her greatest joys were traveling, going to the movies, and spending time with loved ones.

Vicki is survived by her daughter Maurie Ponder, son-in-law Paul Dowell, granddaughters Daisy and Ellie Dowell, and sister Sue Lanier.
