Thomas Edgar Foster

September 16, 1949 - June 13, 2018

On Wednesday, June 13, 2018, surrounded by family and friends, the world lost one of its most colorful characters with the passing of Thomas Edgar Foster. Tom ("Papaw") had a zeal for life that was contagious to everyone around him. Tom was born on September 16, 1949 in Decatur, Alabama. Renowned for his insatiable appetite, love of practical jokes, and Alabama football, Tom will be forever remembered as a rascal who made a mean BBQ and brought laughter and joy into the lives of those who knew him.

Tom loved his family and spiritual brothers and sisters. He will be mourned and most missed by his wife, Helenwith whom he'd planned to celebrate 50 years of marriage only a few weeks from nowtheir only daughter, Marjorie, and his three granddaughters. Madeline (Puddin' Head), Morgan (Doodle Bug) and Mollye (Mollye Bean) who will cherish memories of time spent with their Papaw riding horses and hot summer days on the trampoline with an endless supply of popsicles.

Tom's life was one full of love, happiness, friends, and family, which he often expressed through his love of food. Be it gardening, trying his hand at beekeeping, or firing up the smoker. Tom's enjoyment of preparing and sharing meals with his family and friends will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. Tom loved animalssometimes throwing a few chickens and ducks into the mix for extra fun! Born and raised in Alabama and an avid football fan, Tom's passion for his favorite teams was clearly inherited by his daughter, Marjorie, with whom he watched many an Iron Bowl with cheers and groans.

Tom is survived by his sisters Diane & Elizabeth and his brother Williewho all shared in Tom's love of fishing, gardening, and canning vegetables, undoubtedly will leave many with fond memories made while enjoying such pastimes. Although the loss of Tom has left many with heavy hearts, remembering his laughter will help all those who loved him find strength to carry on. He was truly one of a kind and there'll never be another Tom, Tommy, Papaw, or Thomas E. Foster. Special in so many ways, Tom will be dearly missed by all who knew him. We all love you Papaw and we'll keep you close in our hearts.
