Sarah “Mac” McKenzie Goodman passed away on June 13, 2023 at the age of 46 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. In spite of her love of exercising and dedication to healthy eating, Sarah tragically suffered a random, but fatal, hemorrhagic stroke on June 12 at her home in Spring Hill, Tennessee.
In a last testament to the goodness of her soul, Sarah was kept on life support at Vanderbilt University Hospital so that she could donate her organs, as was her earthly wish. Everything that Sarah did was unique and selfless, and her tragic death was no different; her rare stroke allowed her to donate all of her organs so that she could save other families from the grief of her own.
Just as she would have wanted, Sarah is survived by her five children: Zachary Michael Oliver, 28, and his wife, Tatiana; Elias Belandres Thompson, 23, and his partner, Julianna; Penelope Sophia Goodman, 13; Henry Sawyer Goodman, 10; and Charles Abraham Goodman, 8. Sarah is also survived by her father, Michael “Papa” Oliver; mother, Gail “Gigi” Kessler; second-mother, Sharon “Nana” Oliver; and second-father, Jeffery “Pappy” Kessler.
Those who knew Sarah knew that she was eclectic, wispy, and angelic, and she was finally able to channel her personality and passion into her work as an interior designer for the last few months of her life. Her time on Earth ended when she was at her happiest: living contentedly, comfortably, and surrounded by her loving family.
Because Sarah was a single mother, a GoFundMe has been established to support her youngest children as they navigate the loss of their mother. Donations are welcomed at https://gofund.me/f5c9e901.
