Roger L. Woods, “Big Daddy” was born September 16, 1948, to the late Celdon and Nettie Mae Woods in Winchester, Tennessee. He departed his earthly life, January 27 th , 2022. He was educated in the Franklin County School System, attended Motlow State Community College, enlisted in the US Navy, and most importantly saved and Baptized as a member of the A.O.H. Church in Birmingham, AL.
Apostle Roger woods pastored several churches in Alabama. In 1992 he moved to Winchester, TN and founded The Resurrection Ministries. The Lord then sent him to Nashville, TN in 1997 and Apostle founded New Beginning Ministries of Nashville and Tullahoma. He pastored near and far for over 40 years!
He was the owner of his business, The Resurrection Auto Clinic. Apostle took pleasure of being the hands and feet of Jesus. He was truly one of a kind. For over 40 years he served in prison ministry. When it came to Apostle Roger, there was no such thing as a stranger. His most beloved passion was being a Servant of the Lord.
Roger was a beloved husband to his wife of 30 years, Anita. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Anita Woods; Daughters, Aretha (Chris) Harris of Winchester, TN, Lucretia Woods of Tullahoma, TN, Farrah Woods of Nashville, TN, Nakesha Anthony of Murfreesboro TN, Chrisandra Jones of Birmingham, AL; Sons, Roger Woods Jr of Winchester, TN, Cary (Jennifer) Rowe of Winchester, TN, Kerry (Amy) Parson of Murfreesboro, TN, Carlos Rowell of Nashville, TN, Brandon (Lenabel) of Columbia, TN and Ramond Carmen of Nashville, TN. He also left behind 27 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He is survived by his sisters; Beatrice (Thomas) Taylor of Decherd, TN, Betty Ann (Thomas) Rodgers of Madison, TN, Jesse Reed of Rialto, CA, Bobbie Howard of Detroit, MI, Kathleen Woods of Winchester, TN; Grandmother Margaret Simmons of Huntland, TN; Loved friend and brother Willie Norris; and a host of Aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. He loved his family and his church family!
His mother, father, brother JD Woods, and granddaughter, Jazmin, preceded Roger in death.
He was a loving pastor, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, nephew and friend. He touched every one he spoke with and will be missed by all who knew him!
We would like to give a special thanks to Adoration Home Health, Alive Hospice, Tennessee Oncology, and Nurse Candace for loving and genuine care. Thank you for making such an impact during his last days, we will forever be grateful.
