Rodney Wayland Jordan of Franklin, Tennessee

July 31, 1945 - January 26, 2023

Rodney Wayland Jordan, a resident of Franklin, TN, passed away at age 77 in his home with his devoted wife, Nynette Jordan by his side. He was born in St. Johnsbury, VT and spent his childhood in Groton, VT. He is survived by daughters Jody (Cosme) and Regan (Terry) all of TN and former wife, Linda Saliba. His daughters will lovingly remember him forever. Left to cherish his memory is his soulmate, Nynette Jordan and her children, Paige (Christopher) and Stephanie of NH. Rod treasured his grandchildren: Ryleigh, Destin and Harmony who will miss him greatly. He is survived by brother Kim Jordan of NJ. He was preceded in death by parents Hollis and Faye Jordan, his sister, Holly Brown, and former wife, Carmen Jordan of Vermont.

Rodney graduated Summa Cum Laude from Groton High School, Class of 1963. He then graduated with honors from Vermont Technical College in civil engineering. As a young man, Rod worked on the Trans Alaska Pipeline System. He was employed by highway construction and earth moving contractors before starting his own businesses. He founded and operated Earth Construction Company and Green Mountain Custom Crushing Company, both of Groton, VT. Rod finally retired at age 74, after working for many years with Pavecoat in TN. Throughout life, he was an avid investor in the stock market.

A strong work ethic was instilled in him from a very young age. He grew up on the family farm in East Corinth, VT under the tutelage of his father and grandfather, Wayland Jordan, who was a Vermont State Representative. Lessons from the farm formed who he was: push yourself because there's always something more you can do; there's a solution to every problem- you just have to find it; and know that you are capable of so much more than you think. Anyone who knew him recognized these traits in him , as represented in his character and personality. In his mental prowess and intensity. In his relentless and maverick spirit.

Rod was a passionate, inspirational and very competitive person, while at the same time, he championed the underdog. He had the ability to make you feel like you were the most special person in the world when in his presence. As a young man, he loved to sing with abandon, enter dance competitions, fly fish and hunt in the backwoods of Vermont. Rod raced cars , snowmobiles and motorcycles as long as they were fast and he was the winner! He especially enjoyed playing and watching basketball and baseball; at which events, he would quite often fancy himself the referee or umpire. A dream come true was participating in the Major Leagues, Red Sox Dream Team Fantasy Camp.

He was a rugged Vermonter who moved to Tennessee, where he settled with his wife, daughters and grandchildren for the latter part of life. He and 'Netti' loved to experience every aspect of life together. Some of their favorite pastimes were being with friends and family and having karaoke parties. They most enjoyed traveling and searching out the next adventure, while on life's journey- together for nearly 30 years.

There will be a memorial and Celebration of Life Ceremony bidding farewell to Rod on February 18 in Franklin, TN.
