Robert Joseph Fedoruk of Franklin, Tennessee

June 14, 1924 - November 28, 2021

Born in Windsor, Ontario Canada on June 14, 1924 - Passed in Franklin, TN on November 28, 2021

He is survived by his son (Robert E Fedoruk) grandson’s (Adam R Fedoruk and Grant F Fedoruk) and great-grandson (Ferris S Fedoruk)

He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather who always put his family first. He passed peacefully in his home, which was where he wanted so badly to be. He is now rejoined with his wife of 62 years, Gloria Fedoruk, who passed on February, 4 2018. We are comforted by the fact they are together again.

He graduated from Detroit Denby H.S. and began college but chose enlisted into the US Navy in 1942 when his country needed him most.  He served on the USS LCT 912 (Landing Craft Tank) and was quickly promoted to Captain.  He later moved on to USS LCT 670 and then to the USS LST 950 (Landing Ship Tank) where as Executive Officer and Officer-In-Charge he took Sherman Tanks, Cargo Supplies and Troops onto shore in Okinawa, Japan.

After leaving the Navy in 1946 he attended college again at Hillsdale College, lettering in basketball and then moved to Western Michigan University. He obtained his Masters Degree at Wayne State University in Geology Science.

He began his post-college working career as a high school science teacher and 3 sport athletic coach at Grosse Ile H.S. and then moved to the Dearborn, MI school system where he taught and then became Assistant Principal and Principal at various high schools in Dearborn. He was head coach of basketball at Lowrey H.S.

When he retired, Robert and Gloria moved to Ft. Lauderdale and then Nashville so they could be close to their grandkids that they both loved so much. He developed close friendships with so many people along the way. We will always be thankful for the amazing people who made his life so very special.

There will be a celebration of both Robert and Gloria’s life in the spring of 2022 at the Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery where their remains will be laid to rest together.
