Philip Allan Rigdon Sr. of Spring Hill, TN, joined other members of his family in heaven on October 2nd, 2023 at his home.  He was born August 1st, 1956 to Sam W. and Ruby Phillips Rigdon in Henderson, KY.

Philip graduated from Henderson City High school with honors, where he was president of the chess club.  He was a member of MENSA Society and Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.  Phil held degrees in computer programming and an Associates of Arts degree from Regents University of New York.

Phil joined the U.S. Army in 1974. During his course of service he was 1st Sergeant in field artillery and computer programming and was stationed in Nuremberg, Germany for several years.

After moving to Spring Hill, TN, Phil ran his own business in home repair and remodeling.  He enjoyed woodworking.  He later joined Hilton Garden Inn in Franklin, TN as chief engineer of maintenance.  He retired in 2022.

Philip enjoyed classical music. His favorite was “Trumpet Concerto” by Haydn, and he loved all things “theater”, working backstage as well as in front of audiences.  He volunteered and performed for the Henderson Fine Arts Center and Morganfield's Unicorn Players, building stage sets for productions and working as sound tech for such greats as Kathy Mattea and JD Sumner.  He starred as “Bogey” in Play it Again Sam, and “The Captain” in Rendezvous on The River” which he co-wrote with Richard Holiday.  Other credits include: Showboat, Carousel, Black Comedy, The Good Doctor, Rainmaker, Any Wednesday, and Barefoot in The Park.

Phil sang with the Henderson Community Chorus in the 1990's and sang in concerts including Hallelujah Chorus and Nanie for Chorus and Orchestra, Opus 82, accompanied by the Evansville, IN Philharmonic Orchestra.

Philip was preceded in death by his son Aaron Rigdon, his parents Sam W. and Ruby Rigdon, 3 brothers, Sam W. Rigdon Jr., A. Dale Rigdon Sr., David A Rigdon Sr., and several nieces and nephews.

Survivors include his wife of 21 years, Candice Stanley Rigdon and his son Philip A. Rigdon II.  Four sisters, Judy Clark of Owensboro, Ginger Hast and Deborah Miller of Henderson, and April Ziemer of Owensboro, and one brother, Paul T. Rigdon of Zion.

Memorial services will be held on Sunday, October 29 at 3pm with visitation beginning at 1PM at The Center Church on Alves Street in Henderson, KY.
