Nancy Gayle Gentry

June 20, 1936 - January 24, 2016

Age 79, Born June 20, 1936, Athens, Alabama, daughter of the late Searcy Robert Gentry and the late Katherine Gentry Beasley. Departed this life January 24,2016. Survived by husband of 58 years, Frank; brother, Bob Gentry and his wife, Julia: sons,Mark and Steve and their wives, Landra and Jennifer; daughters, Karen Montgomery and Amy Orr: eleven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relations,
Mrs. Orr graduated from Athens High School, Athens, Alabama and attended Birmingham Southern College, where she was a member of Kappa Delta sorority. Member Woodmont Baptist 1961-1993 and Forest Hills Baptist 1993 to present, with active ministry in a number of areas. She participated in mission trips to Mexico, Guatemala, Poland and Portugal. She was an avid gardener and reader, and an adventurous world traveler with an eye and an ear for beauty in places, people, art and music. She visited more than forty countries as well as many of the United States, and enjoyed white water rafting, hot air ballooning, hanggliding and flying in antique airplanes.
Visitation will be at 3:30 pm, Thursday, January 28 at Forest Hills Baptist Church, 2101 Old Hickory Blvd., with memorial service to follow a 5:00. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Tennessee Baptist Chlldren's Homes or the National Parkinson Foundation.
