Monica Conchita Murray, 72, of Nashville, TN, passed away suddenly on Sunday, February,16, 2020, after a very short illness.

Her parents: Dexter H. Murray and Katie Huddleston Murray; two brothers, Michael Murray and Carl Porter, preceded her in death. Ruby McClain, a very devoted and special aunt, who cared for her during her childhood years, also preceded her in death.

Monica was a 1965 graduate of Pearl High School. She attended Tennessee State University and worked several jobs during her career: Ford Motor Company, Tennessee State University, Nashville Electric Service, the Board of Education and as a substitute teacher in the Shelbyville, TN school system. She also worked several Administrative Assistant positions at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Monica was exceptionally knowledgeable in using office applications.

A very meticulous lady, Monica loved to cook. She loved to dance, loved music, watching TV, and going to the clubs on Jefferson Street in the 70 and 80’s with her friends. She also loved eating out.

Monica is survived by a very loving and devoted son, Ryan Eugene Murray; a very special loving and devoted friend for 28 years, James Claybourne of Shelbyville, TN. Two sisters: Renee Murray and Pam Longstreet; brother Tony Smith; aunt Frankie Pope; niece Brittany Murray; and two nephews Preston Britt and Kyle Wilson; cousins: Bryan McClain and the Gaines family: Earlene, Darlene, Linda and little Earl. She also leaves to cherish her memory a dear friend, Molly Boyd and very special friends in the Pearl High School class of ’65.

Monica is remembered by all who knew her as a kind and loving person. She cared deeply about her son, Ryan, and sister, Renee. She will always be remembered by her family and those who loved her.
