Mary Ellen Culver, 57, of Hendersonville, Tennessee, passed away on March 1st, 2023, after a long battle with cancer.
Mary was born on January 28, 1966, to Laura and Henry Maloney in Malone, New York. After Mary graduated from Franklin Academy High School in 1984, she went on to study Education and Psychology at The State University of New York at Geneseo. She later went on to receive her masters from The State University of New York at Plattsburgh.
After graduating with multiple degrees and obtaining a doctorate in special education, she started her career teaching underprivileged and special needs youth in New York, North Carolina, Georgia, and Tennessee. She also founded a non-profit, called Henry Horizons in honor of her father, to help struggling young adults acquire certifications and diplomas. Throughout her 35 year career, she has touched the lives of many.
During her off time, she could be found relaxing by the water with a campfire and her dogs. She is remembered by family and friends for her spirited personality and giving nature. Her legacy will be held fondly in memory by all her students, fellow teachers, and children Dillon and Hannah Culver.
