Mary Elaine Brant

July 26, 1945 - July 13, 2018

It is with great sadness that the family of Mary Elaine Brant (Schuster) announces her passing on Friday, July 13, 2018, at her home in Brentwood, Tennessee, at the age of 72.
Mary was born on July 26, 1945, in Jerseyville, Illinois, to Pauline Stickhost (Deardeuff) and George Schuster who preceded her in death.
Mary grew up in Pittsfield, Illinois, and graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1963.
Mary is survived by her stepfather, Roy Stickhost, of Barry, her daughter, Laura Bergman, of Jacksonville, her grandchildren, Maggie Crowder (Dakota), of Jacksonville, and Ricky Bergman (Mallory), of Mineola, New York, one sister, Jody Wassell, of Pittsfield, one niece, Teija Smithers (Mike), of Pittsfield, one nephew, T.J. Wassell (Misha), of Pittsfield, and great nieces and nephews, Schae Moore, Isaac Smithers, Eli Smithers, Paige Wassell, and Zaden Wassell. Mary will be forever missed by her soul-mate and love of her life, Tony Grootens.
Mary not only devoted her life to her family and friends, but also to her animals. She was preceded in death by her beloved dogs, Cody and Molly. Mary had a special place in her heart for St. James Episcopal Church in Griggsville, Illinois, where the family will have a private requiem mass. A Celebration of Mary's life for family and friends will be announced at a later date.
