Mark Allen Stringfellow, 69, of Nolensville, TN passed away peacefully, surrounded by family at his home on May 17, 2023. He was born on September 23, 1953 and lived in the Memphis area until 2005, when he and the love of his life, Sherry, moved to the suburbs of Nashville, TN.
Mark worked in the telecommunications business for 31 years before finding a fun and enjoyable retirement job at The Home Depot. In his spare time, he loved to build and fly radio controlled airplanes, communicate via HAM radio, and get together with his wife, daughters, sons-in-law and three grandchildren, all the apples of his eye. He looked forward to daily calls with his brother, Dan, whom he loved dearly.
When it came time to plan a vacation, the only ideal destination for Mark was the silky white sand and saltwater of Panama City Beach or Destin, FL, either of which was visited nearly every summer of his life. The ultimate trip included putting a boat in the water, as he would say. Some of his favorite memories to share were launching the small family fishing boat and later his ski boat in the Choctawhatchee Bay in Destin, teaching his family to water ski, decades of annual camping trips to St. Andrews State Park and catching the daily limit of Spanish Mackerel with his father. He enjoyed one last family trip to Destin this past September, where he celebrated his birthday. He was fond of the family pets over the years, but especially Isabelle, the feisty black Pomeranian. He also enjoyed spending time with his Messick High School reunion group, Glory Dayz.
Mark is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Sherry Thorne Stringfellow, daughters Melissa (Mitchell) Plank and Alison (Travis) Hankins; grandchildren Logan Plank, River Hankins and Wrenleigh Hankins; brother Dan (Maria) Stringfellow; and many special in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Billy and Mary Stringfellow.
