Leslie Edward Blackwell (Wormie) was born on July 31st, 1953. He passed away peacefully after a brief illness on February 21st, 2018 at Saint Thomas West surrounded by his loved ones; he was 64 years old. Leslie lived a full life; some of his favorite pastimes included watching NASCAR racing, working on cars, working in the yard, grilling, having a cold one, and playing with his beloved dogs. He worked at Alexander Automotive Group for 37 years and was a part of the Alexander Racing team for ten years, leading them to MANY victories. Additionally, he worked at Hallmark Automotive and Southeast Signature as a service manager, was a part of the Williamson County Sheriff's Department and rescue squad, and was a member of the narcotics department in Perry County. During the last few years of his life he managed Compton's Storage and U-Haul for his dear friend Linda Compton.

He is survived by the love of his life, Annette K Blackwell (His Bride), as well as two stepchildren, Joshua R. and Ashley A. LaBarge. In addition, he had three granddaughters: Isabell LaBarge (Pride & Joy of his life) whom he helped raise since birth, Aleah LaBarge, and Reina LaBarge. He also left behind siblings Barbara (Skipper) Yates, John Blackwell, Cookie (Chuck) Nance, Betty Jane (Kurt) Steckel, and Vicky (David) Lynch in addition to many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Furthermore, he had three stepchildren Machell (John) Bowe, Tammy Sullivan, and Heather Hennessee. His four step grandchildren were Hannah and Matthew (Courtney) Bowe, and Russell and Robert Dunn. Moreover, he had one step great grandchild, Addie Bowe. He was preceeded in death by his parents, George E. Blackwell and Betty A. Carter, and his sister, Mattie Ferriss.

Leslie will be cremated, and a celebration of his life will be held on March 24th, 2018 at 3pm at Liberty Baptist Church fellowship hall located at 325 Elberta St. Nashville, TN 37210. If you want to send flowers, you can either send them to Annette at 3766 Pin Hook Rd., Antioch, TN, 37013 and she will bring them to the service. Or, better yet, someone will be at church at noon on the day of the celebration of life to receive flowers.
Leslie was a one-of-a-kind straight shooter with a heart of gold and hilarious friend to many! He was loved by many and will be missed by all.
