June F. Bean

June 13, 1937 - December 7, 2023

June F. Bean, 86, of Nashville, TN, passed peacefully in her home on December 7, surrounded by her children. She was born June 13, 1937, to the late Ernest and Mamie Lou Fortner, in Murray County Georgia, and lived most of her life in the Atlanta, GA area.

She was employed by Crawford and Company of Atlanta for over 30 years, retiring from the company in 1995.  She was a lifelong avid reader and enjoyed spending time with friends and family.  She was a devoted caregiver for her mother and sister Marian until their passing in 1995 and 2013 respectively.  She is survived by her children and their spouses: daughter Nancy Gerson and husband Richard of Stone Mountain, GA, Dana Bean and wife Marianne of Sturbridge, MA, and daughter Carole Bonnett of Nashville, whose husband Jim pre-deceased her.

As a single mother in the 1970’s, June managed home and family with tremendous courage and success. She raised her children to be strong, successful, and independent adults without assistance, in a time and place where doing so alone presented daunting challenges.

In her last years, in declining health, she gained the love and respect of all who met her, with her sense of humor, and determination to remain as independent as possible in spite of her infirmities.  She was loved by her caregivers and left a lasting impression and many happy memories.  She will be sorely missed.
