Joseph McDermott Allen of Franklin, Tennessee

May 1, 1941 - November 30, 2020

Joseph “Mac” Allen died peacefully on November 30, 2020 in Nashville, TN at the age of 79 after a brief illness.

Mac is survived by his wife, Patsy Allen, his children, Mindy Grimes Lemont and Marc Grimes, and stepchildren Brian Casey (Katie), and Megan Casey of Nashville, TN, Erin Casey (Jonah Marshall) of Albany New York, and grandchildren Lyra, Talia and Ezra Marshall, and Emma Casey. He is preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Emily McDermott, his sister Margaret, brother Tom, and his two beloved cats, Bags and Part-time.

Mac was born on May 1 in Nyack, NY. He graduated from the University of Miami with a degree in broadcasting. After many years in on-air radio and programming in multiple cities, Mac settled in Nashville and married Patsy. He transitioned to a second career in the field of training companies to comply with federally mandated drug testing.

Mac loved playing guitar with friends, chocolate desserts, vacationing at the beach and spending time with family.  In lieu of a funeral, Mac wanted friends and family to join in a celebration of life.  A party will be scheduled at a later date once we can all gather in person.

In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family requests that donations in Mac’s name be made to the Nashville Rescue Mission.
