John Sidney Gilstrap was born on July 18, 1964 to John Edward and Edna (Crane) Gilstrap.
Throughout his life, he worked in construction and became very skilled at woodworking. He left his fingerprints at many locations with his handiwork. He loved to fish. and he was inseparable from his beloved Rosey. They shared a love of cooking. They owned the "Town Diner" and "The Bar-B-Que," serving the community side by side for many years. He loved their pets and became especially fond of his dog "Jinny" in his last years.
Recently diagnosed with cancer, he was lovingly cared for at St. Thomas West Neuro ICU in Nashville. He passed away peacefully on September 23, 2020 in the care of "Alive" hospice in Nashville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Wallace J. and Joe Gilstrap; and his beloved Rosey (only nine months ago).
He is survived by a son Daniel Ambrose Gilstrap; cousins Shirley Edwards (Keith Sr.), Jeff Hall (Linda), Sam Holcombe (Peggy), Wanda Landers (Tim), Teresa Hunt (Houston) and Bobby Stiles (Belinda); sisters-in-law Catherine Burton (Dr. Bernard) and Jinny Hacker (Ronald); brothers-in-law Sam Brodzenski and Tim Brodzenski (Sharon).
There will be a private "Celebration of Life" on October 5, 2020 in Cookeville, Tennesse.
