John Roger Childers of Brentwood, Tennessee

January 17, 1953 - October 23, 2019

John Roger Childers passed away October 23rd in Nashville, TN surrounded by his family. He was 66.

Roger was born in 1953 in Pulaski, TN to his parents, Louise and Mauta Childers. Roger had a passion for cars and for people, and worked primarily in the car business until his first cancer diagnosis in 2015. Roger spent the last 10 years living in Brentwood, TN with his wife, Nancy Smalling. In 2017, Roger became a Grandpa (or, Pop Pop) to his grandson, Miles. Roger loved spending time with family, tending to his garden, and spoiling his grandson with lots of toys and play time.

After a successful fight against cancer in 2016, Roger was diagnosed with a different form of cancer in March of 2019. Despite his terminal diagnosis, Roger fought tirelessly for 7 months.

Roger is survived by his wife, Nancy and his daughter and son-in-law, Andrea and Finn Breland of Nashville, TN.

A memorial service will be held for Roger on November 8th from 4:00-7:00 PM at Fourth Avenue Church of Christ in Franklin, TN.  All are welcome to attend and celebrate Roger's life.
