John Leon Boyd of Spring Hill, Tennessee

January 17, 1933 - June 23, 2022

On Thursday June 23, 2022, John Leon Boyd, loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away at the age of 89.

Leon was born on January 17, 1933 in Nashville, TN to parents J.O. and Cora Boyd. He married his high school sweetheart, Virginia Jo Adams on December 14, 1952. Together they raised 5 children, John, Debbie, Pam, Brenda, and Jim.

Leon received his Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Tennessee Tech, Masters of Electrical Engineering from North Eastern University in Boston, MA and MBA from University of Chicago.

He was passionate about God, family and shepherding souls while serving as an elder for over four decades in three different congregations as a member of the church of Christ. He loved learning by becoming an avid reader which continued throughout his retirement years. He enjoyed designing projects, building and gardening.

Leon is preceded in death by his father James Oscar, his mother Cora Johnson Boyd, sister Janice, brothers Billy and Bobby.

He is survived by his loving wife Virginia Jo; son Dr. John Boyd (Kay) Cunningham, KY, daughters Debbie Dowell (Paul) Exton PA, Pam Grushon (Jim) Dayton OH, Brenda Roberts (Randy) Spring Hill TN, son Jim Boyd (Kim) Huntsville AL, 14 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren: sister Jeanne Parham and brothers Walter and Don.

Services will be held at Rolling Hills church of Christ, 2001 Wall St. Spring Hill, TN. Visitation will be Monday June 27 beginning at 10:00 am with a memorial service at 12:00 pm.
