Jerry Wayne Kidd was born on July 29, 1957, and passed away on October 30, 2018, in the place he loved the best in this world: the house built by his father, Harold Kidd, on land owned by his family for over a century in Lawrence County, Tennessee. It was on that farm that Jerry learned how to fix cars from his Daddy, and how to cook from his Grandmother, and he enjoyed doing both throughout his life.
Jerry lived like he drove: wide open and full out. Anyone who talked to him for more than ten minutes easily discovered that his gruff exterior hid a heart of gold. You could never be quite sure who might be at his table, especially on Christmas morning - he had a habit of opening his home to any person or animal who needed a hot meal or a warm bed.
Before returning home to Deerfield, Jerry spent most of his adult life in Chattanooga, where he owned and operated a successful home security business until retiring in 2014. He is preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Martha Kidd; grandparents, Lee and Ruth Kidd and John and Grace Pollock; and his aunt and uncle Neal and Edith Kidd. He is survived by his children, Harold Kidd (Heather) and Savanna Kidd; brothers, Johnny Kidd, James Kidd (Ginny), and Larry Kidd (LaShon); grandsons, Davey Kidd and Dylan Kidd; nieces, Jamie Kidd and Brooke Swilling (Ryan); nephew, Blake Kidd; his great-niece and nephew Hadley and Carter Swilling; and multiple cousins.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 17, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. (Central Time) at the Kidd Family Farm, located at 99 North Hood Road, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Grace Hospice Foundation (https://www.curohealthservices.com/donate).
