Jerry "Matthew" Gibson of Columbia, Tennessee

August 12, 1988 - September 4, 2021

Jerry Matthew Gibson, 33, originally of Columbia, Tennessee, went to his heavenly home after an extended seven-year illness, on September 4, 2021. The last years of Matthew’s life, he resided at NHC Lewisburg Nursing Home, where he was cared for and loved immensely. Matthew went peacefully to his heavenly home with family, friends, and his extended family of NHC by his side.

Before Matthew’s unfortunate illness, when his adult life was just beginning, he was Manager of a well-known restaurant in Spring Hill, Tennessee. Matthew loved and enjoyed his employer and patrons. He always greeted everyone with a large, genuine smile and never met a stranger. He loved music, his many friends, and his family dearly.

Survivors include sister, Pam Gibson; brother, Justin McKennon; special friends, Leslie Owen and Derrick Foster; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Matthew was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry Wayne Gibson and Debbie Thomason Gibson; his maternal grandparents, Claude C. Thomason, Jr. and Jean Thomason; his paternal grandparents English Gibson and Clara Johnson Gibson, as well as his brother, Gregory Wayne Gibson, and his two sisters, Jerrie Beth Gibson and Jessica Ann McKennon.

A graveside service will be held at the burial site of Pisgah Cemetery, in Hampshire, Tennessee, on Sunday, October 17, 2021, at 2:00pm.
