James Franklin Long, III "Trey" was born in the wee morning hours on Saint Patrick's Day, 3/17/1989 in Macon, GA. Trey graduated in 2007 from Windsor Academy in Macon and followed his heart to be a true Rebel by attending Ole Miss. Cheers to the brotherhood he found there in Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. Trey was most recently employed by UPS, in Nashville, as an Operations Supervisor.
Trey had a passion for golf from a young age and was interviewed on The Golf Channel following his success in state-wide competitions. He sported his first hole in one at the age of 13. Trey enjoyed SEC football games, concerts, fishing, chillaxing and having fun. He also had a huge passion for music, as evident by his self-taught ability to play the piano.
Survivors include mother and stepfather, Lori and Alan McCullough of Niceville, FL; father, James F. (Jimmy) Long, Jr of Macon, GA; girlfriend, Sarah Hoover of Nashville, TN and FurSon, Craig of Nashville, TN. Trey had four doting aunts; Sharon McElmurray of Macon, GA, Marianna (Jim) McKimmon of Raleigh, NC, Janice Dunford of Vidalia, GA, and Sheri (Joe) Greene of Montgomery, AL. In addition to his stepbrother, Kyle (Kathy) McCullough, Trey also had many cousins, but four were like siblings; Michael Blankenship, Kelly Dunford, Layla Hartley, and Rachel McKimmon. There are also many, close personal friends of the family that Trey would refer to as his aunt or uncle, we cannot forget their love for him.
While his grandparents were alive, they adored Trey, shared many memories and taught him so many things. His Pop and Grand, James F and Margaret Long Sr, of Macon, GA, instilled in him the love of golf and he always appreciated one of her great meals. It was his Pow and Granny, Thomas and Anna Lendrum of Warner Robins, GA. that introduced Trey to the passion of UGA/SEC football and the importance of style, but only when its at a great sale price.
Two private Catholic Masses were offered for The Repose of Trey's Soul at Holy Spirit Parish in Montgomery, Alabama. Both Father Wayne Youngman and Father Patrick Gilbreath both spoke kindly and gently about our beloved Trey during the homilies. Uncle Joe and Aunt Sheri Greene attended and their spirits were uplifted and reassured that God is tenderly cradling Trey in his arms.
Trey's family is grateful for the messages of condolences and memories that have been sent since his passing on April 25, 2020. There is no other feeling as great as knowing your child was so loved.
Due to current world event, and COVID-19 social distancing, we will celebrate Trey's life in the near future. Please join us then for a memorial service followed by a get-together with southern fare snacks. As details become available, we will post updates on Trey's Facebook page. Please help us in spreading the word to all of those who loved Trey.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking to please send a donation to the charity of your choice, or one of Trey's interests; animal rescue or AA.
