Irene Ruth Zongor of Spring Hill, Tennessee

June 12, 1943 - October 12, 2023

Irene Ruth Zongor, 80, passed away peacefully on Thursday evening, October 12, 2023, at her home in The Goldton in Spring Hill, TN. surrounded by her family.  Irene was born on June 12, 1943, in Oakland, California, eldest daughter to George and Ruth (Rybar) Tykvart.

Irene was a retired RN who cared for patients during her career at Vanderbilt Medical Center and Williamson Medical Center.   She was a creative soul with a big imagination whose interests included painting, teaching ceramics, knitting, crocheting, scrapbooking, baking and she was always collecting and reading books.  She loved any place near the water, lake or ocean, it did not matter and always spoke of her found memories with her boys on the family houseboat. She was a loving grandma to her five grandchildren, sharing her love of God, a passion for reading, and all things creative.

Irene had a strong faith and commitment to the Episcopal Church and was a member of The Order of the Daughters of the King. She made lifelong friendships through her church, work, and volunteering.

Irene’s family was her heart, and she will be deeply missed. She is survived by her three sons, Michael Zongor (Toynia Zongor), Steven Zongor (Tricia Zongor), and Kenneth Zongor (Amy Zongor), and her five grandchildren, Nicole Foster (Michael Foster), Amanda Zongor, George Zongor, Caroline Zongor, and Gracie Zongor.

Her family would like to thank all the caregivers and staff at The Goldton Assisted Living in Springhill, TN. and AccentCare Hospice of Franklin for the love and compassion they have shown our family over the last few weeks, we are grateful.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Tuesday November 21, 2023, at St. Peters Episcopal Church in Columbia, TN.  Visitation 2:00pm-3:00pm Service 3:00pm-4:00pm
