David “Dad, Papaw, Pappy, Coach Dave” Ringley, was welcomed home, into the arms of Jesus, on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at Vanderbilt UMC in Nashville, TN. After fighting a battle with Cancer, our Precious Pappy is healed and walking the streets of gold.
Dave was born in Richmond, Indiana to Robert and Dorothy (Corder) Ringley.
Dave has always served his community. He completed a degree in theology at Johnson University and served as a youth pastor in Maryville and a counselor at Blount County Children’s Home. Dave was very involved in Boy Scouts and completed his Eagle Scout in the early 1980’s and went on to become a Scout Master and help multiple boys achieve their Eagle Scout Badges. He LOVED baseball and was a coach at the Fountain City Baseball Park. He coached so many children from wee ball to kid pitch, he was one of the baseball commissioner’s and served on the board. One of his favorite pastimes was coaching, especially his grandsons! Pappy loves his family, especially his grandchildren, and it was not uncommon to find him outside, throwing baseballs, riding bikes, or jumping on the trampoline with “his babies”.
Dave also loved his job. Dave was the Facilities Manager at the Historic Tennessee Theatre and Bijou Theatre. Dave often commented how blessed he was to not only love what he did every day, but got to work with an amazing work family and work in one of the most beautiful locations in the world!
Dave’s greatest joy in life was his son and his family. Dave is survived by his son Steve Ringley-Self (Karin) and their children Xavier, Gabriel, and Nathaniel Ringley-Self. Brothers, Dan Ringley (Judy), Rob Ringley (Izzy), Steve Ringley (Donna). Daughter Stephanie Williams and children Destany, Tomayus, Elijah Self. A host of special nieces and nephews. Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Dorothy Ringley and brother Jim Ringley of Richmond, Indiana.
A celebration of life will be held at the Tennessee Theatre at a later time.
