Liz was born in Mississippi on November 10, 1938, she was one of ten children born to Mary
Lizzy (Davis) Vanhoozer. As a young adolescent, Liz moved to Illinois with her Mother and
siblings, where she eventually met her devoted and adoring Husband, Joseph “Joe” Whittle
Collins, of Bainbridge, GA. On June 15, 1958, Liz and Joe were married and this summer they
celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary.
Liz was a very kind, classy and gentle soul; she had a loving and generous heart and was
always giving to and doing for others. Liz most enjoyed spending time with family; laughing,
telling stories, making life-long memories and she always did it with style; as she loved to
get dressed up; complete with matching accessories, to go out.
Liz is preceded in death by her Mother, Mary Lizzy (Davis) Vanhoozer; two brothers Lamar
“Buddy” Vanhoozer and Ronnie Vanhoozer; and two sisters, Rebecca Ann “Beck” Arnold and
Christine Prather.
Liz was blessed with a large and loving family. She leaves her fond memories to be
cherished by her Husband, Joseph Whittle Collins, loving Children; Michael (Robin) Collins,
Cindy (Robert) Burrow, Myron (Kari) Collins, Tony (Dana) Collins, Andy (Amy) Collins, 19
adoring Grandchildren, 17 Great-Grandchildren, Siblings; Jessie (Marion Darlene) Vanhoozer,
Irene Baum, Helen Kirk, Shirley (Jay) Collier, Margaret Mihali; several cherished nieces,
nephews and other relatives.
She is dearly missed by her loved ones, who celebrate the fact that she is at peace with her
Creator, “I can only imagine, what it will be like when I walk by your side”.
