Blue Bell Creameries, Jack Daniels, and the Hershey Candy Company lost a Platinum status customer as Bryan A. Ross Sr. passed away on April 16, 2019 in Nashville, TN. His loyal and loving bride Elizabeth (Betty) of 48 years maintains a freezer filled with coffee ice cream for anyone interested. Bryan passed his love of good ice cream, good whiskey and sweets of all kinds on to his 3 boys Derrald (52), Bryan Jr. (50), and Jason (44) as well as his grandkids Jacob (10) and Ellie (7); okay, maybe not the 'whiskey' part for the grandkids, but they're still younggive them time.
The man did nothing quickly. Just ask anyone who ate with him, built something with him, grocery shopped with him or waited for him while he used the restroom. This pace however, did not apply to his driving. His drag racing starts coming off a red light were renowned on the streets of Taunton, MA, Austin, TX and later The Villages, FL. He was also prone to highly distracted behavior behind the wheel of a fast moving car powered by his lead foot.
Beloved for his fashion sense, Bryan possessed what is thought to be the largest collection of "man-sandals" in the United States. He often paired them with classy, thin, white dress socks, short shorts approaching his navel and one of his many Boston Red Sox t-shirts. Betty had to beat back the ladies with her cane.
These fine attributes were paired with terrific sense of humor, eternal optimism, a warm smile, unrivaled determination, and a deep love for family gatherings. He touched the lives of many, far more than he realized. If you came in contact with Bryan, you didn't soon forget it. He made us laugh, made us feel loved, led by example, and leaves everything he ever touched far better than he found it.
In lieu of flowers, Bryan's family kindly requests donations in his memory be made to Bridges for the Deaf & Hard of Hearing (www.bridgesfordeafandhh.org), a Nashville-based non-profit serving Middle Tennessee's Deaf and Hard of Hearing community.
