Betty Jo (Workman) Vincent, teacher, biscuit baker, opera lover, furniture rearranger, and family sage, died March 13, 2018 after a stout fight with breast cancer. She is preceded in death by her father, Curtis, mother, Bernice, and sister, Norma. Born November 24, 1933, in Paris, Tennessee, Jo graduated from Lambuth University, where she met her husband of six decades, Gary Vincent. The two raised a family of two sons (Brant and Van) and a daughter (Lane) in Nashville, enjoying the finer things in life with their children and five grandchildren including daily visits to Ravenwood horse farm, season passes to Opryland theme park, back porch summer poetry recitations, and Wednesdays and Sundays at McKendree United Methodist Church. She leaves behind for her loved ones a legacy of lessons, character, and recipes taught, love for God and others, music, and laughter.
Though she will be dearly missed, her family rejoices in the fact that she now resides with her Lord and Savior in a state of perfect peace. She is among dear family and friends in a place where the sun never ceases to shine, the Queen Anne's Lace grows easily and year-round, the songs are always sung on pitch, the book you want to read is never on the library waiting list, and every mattress and sitting chair is perfectly comfortable.
"Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
and mortal life shall cease,
I shall possess, within the veil,
a life of joy and peace.
When we've been there ten thousand years,
bright shining as the sun,
we've no less days to sing God's praise
than when we first begun."
