Aljuana Brown of Murfreesboro, Tennessee

November 28, 1951 - January 29, 2020

Aljuana Dougherty Brown passed away peacefully at the age of 68 on January 29th, 2020, after a brief illness. She was born on November 28th, 1951, in Hamlet, North Carolina, the daughter of Talbert Erskine Dougherty and Juanita Leake Dougherty. At the age of nineteen, Aljuana moved to Detroit, Michigan to live with her two sisters. She worked for GM for 20 years during which time she also received her Associate's degree in Accounting from Highland Park Community College. In 1990, she transferred to the Saturn plant in Spring Hill, TN where she worked until her retirement in 2003.

Aljuana's greatest legacy is love. The love she had for her family, especially her children and grandchildren, and for Jesus Christ. For the last 20 years, she was a dedicated member of the Greater Nashville Church and the Detroit Church of Christ. Her gentle spirit encouraged many and she was always there to take care of her "extended " grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Lessie Lula Dougherty; brothers, Ronnie Dougherty and Talbert Dougherty Jr.; and Ex-husband, Robert Brown.

Aljuana is survived by her children, Travis (Shannon) Brown and Alicia Brown; as well as her sisters, Cynthia Williams, Linda Dougherty and Beulah Dougherty; and her brother, Lowell (Wanda) Dougherty. Aljuana is also survived by her five grandchildren, Niya, Jerrell, Amaré, Landon and Ava; as well as many more nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
