Oregon native, Aletha JoAnne Jahn was born April 1, 1935, and went to be with the Lord on January 30, 2018. Aletha was the daughter of Robert and Opal Cox. She was born in Newberg Oregon and raised in Sheridan, Oregon.
Aletha was married to Mervin Ivan Jahn in 1952. They moved to Portland where Mervin purchased American Metal Products and Aletha worked as a teletype operator for Union Pacific Railroad.
The Jahn's enjoyed time at the family vacation home in Tillamook and extended trips in their motor home. They both loved deep-sea fishing in their boat, the "Pigeon Gru."
They were great supporters of Youth for Christ and attended the Portland First Church of the Nazarene. They were generous people who gave and supported many individuals and families.
The Jahn's moved to Franklin, Tennessee from Beaverton, Oregon in January 2012 to live with their daughter, Shirley and her husband, Richard, until the time of Mr. Jahn's passing, January 2014.
After a fall that resulted in a broken shoulder, Aletha moved into an assisted living facility. Morning Point Assisted Living Center was located one mile from the home of her daughter, Shirley. She and Shirley became a favored resident and guest of Morning Point where Aletha's room became the unofficial "break room" for the staff.
She was loved by her children: daughter, Cathie JoAnne Jahn (deceased); daughter, Shirley Dianne Parrott and husband Richard; and son, Mervin Dale Jahn and wife Tina.
She was the proud grandmother of Candy Wolbert (deceased), Kurtis Strovink. and wife Emily, Robert Strovink (deceased), Leanne Strovink, Jacob Jahn and wife Amber, and Jasmine McAfee and husband Nathan.
Aletha was the great-grandmother of Adrian Wolbert, TJ Wolbert, Aspin Wolbert, Britain Wolbert, Arianna Humerus, Maddie Strovink., Drake Strovink, Lillie Strovink, Alexis McAfee, and Dylan McAfee.
Aletha was preceded in death by her brothers Robert J Cox, Harold Cox, and Newton Cox.
A memorial service will be held at 11 AM Thursday, March 15, 2018, at the Sheridan Church of the Nazarene, 917 Southbridge St., Sheridan, OR 97378. Interment will be in Green Crest Memorial Park, Sheridan. Local arrangements made with Adamson's Sheridan funeral home, 503-843-2525.
